New Partnership Brings Greater Efficiency to the Creation and Printing of HazCom 2012/GHS-Aligned Compliant Workplace Labels
According to OSHA, more than 5 million U.S. workplaces have hazardous chemicals and are covered by its Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom). With the GHS-aligned version of the standard referred to as HazCom 2012 now in full effect, many of these facilities need better ways to efficiently manage their hazardous chemical compliance needs.
Enter a powerful new partnership between Duralabel, manufacturer of DuraLabel industrial printers, and VelocityEHS, the leading global cloud environment, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability software company, and provider of the award-winning MSDSonline chemical management solutions. The two companies have integrated their solutions to better serve customers looking for an easier, more efficient way to transfer chemical information found on product safety data sheets (SDSs) to GHS-aligned workplace labels.
"OSHA's revised HazCom Standard can be confusing when it comes to workplace labeling," said Steve Stephenson, Chief Strategy Officer at Duralabel. "We get dozens of requests from safety managers looking for help producing compliant workplace labels. With our system integrations in place, the process is easy. Customers simply select a pre-set GHS template from inside their VelocityEHS cloud-based MSDSonline account and are able to print directly to our DuraLabel Toro and DuraLabel PRO 300 printers."
With this integration, customers of the VelocityEHS MSDSonline chemical management solution have more options for creating and printing GHS-aligned workplace labels on heavy-duty label stock, often a necessity for industrial work environments or chemical-heavy processes. Users also have flexibility to reorder precautionary statements and choose up to four GHS pictograms.
"Hazard Communication continues to be ranked as OSHA's second most cited standard, with improper labeling being a big driver behind many citations," said Mike Flynn, Vice President of Product at VelocityEHS. "To remain citation-free, companies need workplace labels that accurately explain to workers all of the hazards associated with the chemicals they come into contact with; don't smudge, rip or tear easily; and comply with today's GHS-aligned HazCom Standard. The addition of DuraLabel to our lineup of container labeling options addresses the needs of even more safety managers, across more industries where work processes demand tough, long-lasting labels."
A system like MSDSonline streamlines the process of managing HazCom-required SDSs and the container workplace labels for the hazardous chemical products to which they apply. Facilities with multiple locations benefit the most from the new integration, since all label and document information is accessible via the cloud from anywhere, even mobile devices. No longer are misplaced binders of documents or disparate label systems a concern. VelocityEHS MSDSonline HQ and HQ RegXR customers have access to the integrated label features, which support use of the DuraLabel' DuraLabel PRO 300 and DuraLabel Toro printers.
