The Challenge

The facility needed a labeling solution capable of addressing a variety of applications—ranging from employee name tags to product labeling and pipe marking—while adhering to stringent safety and quality standards, including the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 21 CFR 175.105 regulation for adhesives in food-contact applications. These labels had to integrate seamlessly into the manufacturing environment, where detectability and compliance are critical for maintaining quality control. 

Simplot turned to DuraLabel for a solution that combined ease of use with high performance. They required a system that could produce durable, FDA-compliant labels while supporting time-sensitive operations without relying on external vendors. 

The Solution

Simplot relied on DuraLabel’s Metal-Detectable Tape to create custom labels for their food production environment. Designed with a foil-backed, built-in detectable metal, these labels enhance safety by enabling easy identification during manufacturing processes. They also have an FDA-compliant adhesive that meets 21 CFR 175.105 requirements, making them fully optimized for use in food production environments. 

The multipurpose labels addressed a wide range of applications, from name tags for employee helmets to product labeling and general facility marking. Their versatility allowed for consistent quality across departments. Medrano also noted that printing these labels in-house with the DuraLabel Bronco Max Industrial Sign and Label Print System saved significant time and resources by eliminating the need for third-party services, thus enhancing operational efficiency.
